Carbon Analysis
LabWest has developed a dedicated carbon analysis section. Forms of carbon (total, organic, carbonate, and graphitic) can be determined by sequential analysis, using combustion/infrared analysers .
Total Carbon is determined by direct analysis of the pulverised sample.
Carbonate carbon is removed by acidification, and remaining forms determined by CS analyser.
Organic carbon is removed by low-temperature furnace oxidation, and remaining forms determined by CS analyser.
The various forms are calculated by difference.
